Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trade Finance & Commodity Financing Specialist to support our global commodities trading operations. This role will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of trade finance and structured commodity financing activities, ensuring efficient execution of international trade transactions, risk mitigation, and alignment with banking and regulatory standards.
Job Details
Trade Finance Operations:
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of trade finance instruments including letters of credit (LCs), standby LCs, bank guarantees, collections, and bills of exchange.
- Liaise with commodity traders, banks, insurance providers, and counterparties to ensure timely processing and settlement of trades.
- Review and prepare all trade documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, inspection certificates, etc.) alongside the Operations team
- Ensure compliance with sanctions regulations, KYC, and AML policies in all trade-related transactions.
- Monitor transaction statuses and proactively resolve any discrepancies or delays.
Commodity Financing:
- Work closely with the Corporate Finance team to structure and execute pre-export financing, inventory financing, transactional-based lending, and repo deals with banking partners.
- Support corporate finance in securing and negotiating competitive financing terms with banks and financial institutions.
- Coordinate with operations, risk, and legal teams to align financing structures with commodity trade flows and risk profiles.
- Assist in managing financing facilities including interest calculations and reporting covenants.
Treasury & Risk Support:
- Track and forecast trade-related cash flows to support treasury planning.
- Maintain and update internal trade and financing records for audit and compliance purposes.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Master’s degree or CFA is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in trade finance or commodity finance within a trading/commodities house, bank, or multinational company.
- Deep understanding of commodity markets (e.g., agri) and international trade practices.
- Hands-on experience with structured trade finance, LC issuance and negotiation, and bank documentation.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk controls in international trade.
Preferred Certifications:
- CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist)
- CITF (Certificate in International Trade and Finance)
- CSDG (Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees)
