Data Protection Officer

Job Summary

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a critical role at Sunbeth, responsible for independently overseeing the company's data protection and privacy program. This role ensures Sunbeth maintains the highest standards of data protection, rigorously complying with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and other relevant regulations and implementing best practices for data handling across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs). The DPO acts as a point of contact for data protection authorities (NDPC), advises management on data protection matters, and fosters a culture of data privacy within the organization. The DPO should have sufficient autonomy and resources to perform their duties effectively.

Requirements

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in law, Information Technology, or a related field.

Professional Requirements
Deep understanding of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its practical application.

Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5-7 years of demonstrable experience in data protection or privacy, including implementing and managing data privacy programs, preferably within Nigeria and UK.
